La Habra CA April 25, 2013 — It’s that time of year again! Spring has sprung and the birdies are singing. The nearby hills are green and in a few more weeks, the La Habra Corn Festival for 2013 will once again provide an annual highlight for summertime fun here in Orange County, California.
This year marks the 65th consecutive year for this traditional event and brings thousands of hungry folks to northwest Orange County for the Corn Festival Parade, The Raffle Car drawing and of course, the Corn Festival with, of course, corn.
According to John Creed, Lions Club President for 2012-2013, “The Corn Festival has been a success for decades and continues to be the highlight of the social calendar in La Habra.” That means this years event will be exactly the same, but completely different than last years. Huh, exactly the same but completely different?
This seems to be the case for annual festivals and traditional events in America. There’s always something fondly reminiscent of past festivals — favorite rides, pleasent smells, delicious food. And, there is always something new — new fun, a new car and new friends.
What will be exactly the same is the corn — lots and lots of tasty corn on the cob, the location — El Centro Park and the enthusiasm of the La Habra Host Lions Club volunteers.
What will be completely different is Miss La Habra and her princesses, the date — August 2, 3, 4 2013 and the 2013 Car Prize — a brand new 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck with custom wheels and tires with a new Quad off-road toy already loaded in the bed.
