Laura’s Story: Straight from the Laura’s Loaves & Goodies Menu
In 1985, in Fullerton, Laura and Tony Schavone began baking tea loaves (sweet breads w/cream cheese filling) for her sister’s Christmas Boutique. She felt it was a good way to earn extra holiday money! Laura worked full time as a legal secretary in Los Angeles and she and Tony baked loaves at night. The demand became greater each year; so they decided to take the big step: open a retail bakery so they could bake their loaves for boutique & special shows and also serve their great food!
In June 1994, they opened “Laura’s Loaves & Goodies, Inc.” (A Cafe & Bakery) with Laura, Tony & her sons, Brian, (working full time) and Scott (working at lunch time). Their goal was to serve only quality food; specialized bakery items; fresh Danish & muffins; and good coffee & cappuccino. Her sons still help occasionally, but their Manager, Jennifer, and staff are very friendly and ready to help.
Laura’s goal and good reputation ha grown along with the menu. The ALMOND CHICKEN SALAD SANDWICH is the “best you ever tasted” and is her main Signature item. The CROISSANTS are very buttery and the CHEESECAKE BARS just make you want to “come back for more”. All the foods and salads for catering are “just like Mom’s” and her catered dinners such as Pot Roast, Meatloaf, Casseroles and more will definitely take you back to rememberances of Old Fashioned Family Dinners.
The atmosphere is quaint, cozy and friendly. Customer satisfaction is always to top priority, Our motto is: “If satisfied, tell a friend; if not, tell us!” Remember, “we’re only hard to find the first time”. So, please come in and enjoy our good food and meet Laura, Tony and their staff.
